Transitions

At Ingol Community Primary School we recognise that transitions are milestone events for children and have an impact on their development.

We ensure that every child at school benefits from a smooth transition from Nursery to Reception by…

• visiting every child in their pre-school or nursery setting during the Summer Term. 
• inviting every child and their parents/carers to spend some time in Reception class to familiarise themselves with school.
• inviting families to join us for a teddy bears’ picnic for new starters in June.
• inviting all parents/carers to join the ClassDojo App, this enables effective communication between home and school.

• offering a staggered start to school to school.
• EYFS staff visit children in their homes before they start school.
