Literacy (reading and writing) Year One will be learning to: - Apply phonic knowledge for reading
- Read with understanding
- Read a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts
- Write in different forms such as stories and information texts.
- Use joining words in sentences to add more information.

Maths Year One will be learning to: - Counting in 1, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
- Continue adding and subtracting numbers.
- Solve one step problems involving addition and subtraction.
- Begin to read an analogue clock to the hour and half past the hour.
- To solve simple multiplication and division problems. .

Further curriculum subjects Science- Year One will be learning to: - distinguish between an object and the material from which it is made
- identify and name a variety of everyday materials, including wood, plastic, glass, metal, water, and rock
- describe the simple physical properties of a variety of everyday materials
- compare and group together a variety of everyday materials on the basis of their simple physical properties.
History The Titanic - Year One will be learning to: - Recognise the difference between past and present.
- Identify similarities and differences between past and present.
- Place a few events in order to show the passing of time.
- Ask questions about the past.
ICT- Year One will be learning to: - To create simple coding for moving objects

Class reminders - We change reading books daily- if you read with your child, please remember to sign their reading diary. Books will not be changed if diaries aren’t signed.
- P.E. is on Mondays and Thursdays- children need P.E. kits in school everyday
- Homework goes out on Fridays and must be completed by the following Thursday
