CGP comprehension book pg. 2-3 'The Word Play'
Extension task - Write your own 5 line verse which would fit in the poem.
Create a bank of adjectives to describe the picture. (describing words)
Write descriptively about the winter image below. Remember to include adjectives, adverbs and the expanded noun phrases that you practiced yesterday. Don't forget to share your writing with me via Dojo
Children could use sketching skills to create their own winter scene
Thursday 7th January
CGP pg. 7 and 8 (Place Value in big numbers and Ordering and comparing big numbers).
Use the learning link below to create some complex sentences. Remember Year 5 complex sentences can have an 'ing', 'ed' or simile starter.
Gliding through the brilliant white sky, I clung on to the snowman tightly.
Saddened that my snow man would melt, I said goodbye to him one last time.
Like eagles soaring high in the sky, we flew until we reached the forest.
You can also use a relative pronoun, to write complex sentences with a relative clause.
Watch the clip below 'The Snowman', then write the story using year 5 sentences. Don't forget to include description, thoughts and feeling in your writing.

CPG Comprehension Book, pg 4-5 ,An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth.
20 mins reading a book of their choice.
CPG Grammar, punctuation and Spelling Book, Adjectives pg 8.
Write a winter poem or rap of your choice. You could use rhyming, repetition, similes, metaphors, alliteration, verses, personification, pattern or onomatopoeia.
Once you have created your poem, send me a video of you performing it.
