English (reading and writing) Year 1 will be learning to: - Apply phonic knowledge for reading and writing
- Write simple sentences
- Read with understanding
- Read aloud a variety of poems to partners and groups
- Retell familiar stories
- Read a variety of fiction texts
- Describe a character and setting

Maths Year 1 will be learning to: - Form numbers correctly
- Solve problems and practical problems involving number and place value.
- Solve one-step problems involving adding and subtracting
- Counting in 1, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
- Finding out 1 more and 1 less than a number
- Recognise and create repeating patterns with numbers, objects and shapes.
