In our gymnastics session we looked at the strong, tight pencil shape in 3 different ways. Pencil walk with a rise up on our toes, the pencil roll across a mat and a pencil jump. For each movement we talked about needing to have a straight back and strong arms.
In our gymnastics session today we learnt the the tucked shape. We practiced this shape on the floor and then tried moving around in the tuck shape by hopping like rabbits and then tried performing a tucked jump in the air. We tried to remember to tuck our knees into our chests and not to kick them behind us.
We learnt the star shape in todays gymnastics session. We talked about our arms and legs beings straight as a pencil but spread out to create a star shape. We then tried moving in different star shapes and performed a bear walk and crab crawl. Then we performed star jumps. We had to remember to jump our feet wide and then bring them back together again before the end of the jump which was really tricky!
