Class Dojo

At Ingol Community Primary School, we use Class Dojo as a reward system and as a method in which to communicate with parents and carers. Once you have set up an account using your child's login, you will have access to photos, class story, dojos awarded and removed, as well as the ability to send messages directly to the class teacher.  In Year 1 the dojo system is used on a daily basis, so we would like all parents to support this.

Home Reading

Reading is an important aspect of school life and the foundation for all other subjects. We have found that home reading has a huge benefit in helping children progress with their reading. If children are unable to read yet, then it is just as important to read a story to them as this helps them build their own vocabulary and improve their understanding when they listen, which is vital as they start to read. Even if your child doesn't understand every word, they'll hear new sounds, words and phrases which they can then try out, copying what they have heard. Please sign their yellow reading diary when a book has been read so we know to change it. We will change books every day.

PE

Year 1 will have two PE slots each week, one on Mondays delivered by Team Theme and one on Thursday afternoon with Miss Jackson. Please ensure children come to school in a P.E. kit and trainers, earrings must either be removed or taped before the lesson (preferably left at home). Long hair must also be tied up.
